2nd Trimester!!

Starts next week!

We had our second appointment today with our mid-wife, Jana Swett, finishing off the first trimester. We heard the heartbeat, which was 150 bpm, and we got to hear the baby kick a couple times! I'm still unable to feel it - although I keep thinking that I do, it's probably wishful thinking. So far, so good. Now that we've made it through the first trimester, I'm at low risk for miscarriage, and we'll get to find out the sex of the baby in 6 weeks!

We're getting ready for moving to the downstairs of the house, into the larger bedroom. It's an unfinished basement room with a concrete floor and horrible textured wallpaper on the walls. We bought 200 square feet of laminate hardwood flooring and Garrett and I (mostly Garrett) will be installing it after we get all the wallpaper off. Or after Garrett gets all the wallpaper off. This is going to be ours & the baby's bedroom until we save up for a down payment to move into our own house, which is something we plan to do within a year.

Also, we've adopted a little rescued kitty to add to the animal family. His name is Owen and he was abandoned at a Vet clinic after some trauma to his left eye. He's 12 weeks old and we're going to pick him up in the next couple of days from his kitty foster home.

Baby Names

Any ideas? So far, we both agree on Hunter for a boy's name, but can't decide on a middle name. Garrett does NOT want a normal middle name, like Hunter John or Hunter Harry, because it sounds more like a title (e.g. Builder Bob, Contractor Corky, Denver Dave, etc.).
So help. I like Solomon, which in Hebrew is Schlomo, which happens to be Garrett's other name.

Any input is helpful - there are no bad ideas, just ones that we will rip apart in a scathing review.

Progress

So, Garrett really has quit smoking, and he's nearly out of the extremely irratible phase. To show him my gratitude, I set him up with a professional massage today with a really great girl who does massage at Group Health for the employees. It's true - I'm the best.

Mindy asked that I update my blog, but there's really no new baby news. I'm sick a lot - but it's not morning sickness - I'm sick in the afternoon usually. All these baby books say different things, but I'm under the impression that all pills are bad, with the exception of prenatal vitamins, so it's been hard to avoid the NSAIDS I usually take for tooth pain and headaches, etc.

Right now Miss Eva Petunia (our adopted dog) is really acting out. On Saturday we had breakfast with some friends and spent the day driving around town, and when we came home, Eva had emptied the contents of anything within her reach and dragged it around the living room. She tried to eat a huge bag of tealight candles and ate a chunk out of our roommate's armchair. She also used the runner in the hallway as her toilet and ate a whole coscto bag full of trail mix.
She's SO adorable!
